llm threatening education systems status quo

LLM’s seem to threaten something about the education system.

This is something that feels inherently tied to elitist, racist etc. structure of institutions, knowledge and ideas of ‘intelligence’

the perceived attitude that I see from many of my colleagues in regards to LLM’s, a complete dismissal and slightly mocking view of AI tools and how they are being used, whilst I believe this is grounded in real sensibilities, this feels extremely problematic to me - the fact that students use it, is reason enough to take it seriously (not to mention professionals and the wider public). Whilst I do believe we need to critique some of the applications of this tool (equally as well as the corporate scale and push by corporations of LLM’s into everything), I do think there are positives here to be more greatly understood (obviously I think this, as I am exploring this as my research, ha!). I cant help but feel from an institutional perspective this comes across as elitist and stubbornly detached from the reality of many people.
