updates:
- wrote paper for conference submission:
- I am considering whether to participate in C&C, and I am working towards participating in the UAL Doctoral Symposium in June
- submitted teaching-bots ethics forms on the 21st of January
currently:
I am working on preparing the staff interviews -project-cci-ual-staff-interviews
discussion points:
talk about the staff interviews - what is my timeline?
-
think about strategy – focus on CCI first before branching out to the rest of UAL. CCI = phase 1. surface the tensions
-
write/log mine/MSc CC course stance on AI and our approach (can also begin here with interviews as trial)
-
use moodle, as a kind of local lit review - see how people are teaching AI in their courses
- selection: diploma, undergraduate (BSc Creative Computing), 1 or 2 postgraduate (MSc Applied Machine Learning + MA Internet Equalities) and a stem course (BSc Computer Science)
- what are the ethics of this?? course materials are ‘UAL owned’ techincally, so probably fine.
- as a collegiate starting point reach out the course teams and let them know
-
am I trying to work out genAI’s impact on learning/pedagogy or on creative production/practice. be clear about the differentiation (and in my questioning)
-
domain specific concerns may be different across CCI (and across UAL more broadly) this is something to bear in mind. (also my phd sits across 3 different domains - pedagogy, creative computing, speculative design (?) )
talk about conferences, is there a good way to be thinking about them/ planning which one to take part in?
- be selective and consider what I want to get out of it. consider my time and how I can balance pushing the research forward and also participating and sharing in useful spaces
for interviews a good way to consider it is to find out what I can before interviews (moodle review). email to course teams to ask for moodle viewing, this line of communication can lead to -> questionnaire -> interviews (a focused group initially)
discuss my plan for the coming months
talk of the next milestone - confirmation
-
what is necessary for confirmation:
lit review (map the field and gap), methodology (how + my approach), research design – pilot study and prototypes of research. -
main research comes after confirmation
-
q - how do all my experiments, prototypes and iterations (autoethnographic/speculative) fall into this?
-
q - can I do my confirmation sooner? what is a good timeline to hit?
for next meeting:
moodle review complete - clear plan and design of questions and who will be reached out to and when (stages of reaching out).
The revisions below show how this note has changed over time.
